Annie Prescott is a folk artist who studied art in college (UMASS
Amherst
‘73). Upon graduation she became an English teacher at
BMC Durfee High School in Fall River, MA where she taught for 35
years.
Upon retiring from teaching in 2008, Annie focused on her art
and creative talents in her studio at The Narrows Center for the Arts
(2008- 2012). Art became her second career and she participated in
nearly 200 art and craft fairs throughout New England.
She operated a boutique in her hometown of Somerset MA
(2012-2020) which closed at the end of 2020 and a loft-style studio was created in her home where she now draws inspiration from her studio overlooking the Taunton River.
She also began writing poetry publishing a book
Conversations with a River” in the fall of 2022.
Annie received a grant from the Mass. Cultural Council in 2023 and another in 2024 and her favorite style of painting continues to be Folk Art Fusion. Her art has been on exhibit at The Narrows Center for the Arts at Battleship Cove in Fall River, Mass, The Trescott Street Gallery in Taunton, Mass and the Osterville Village Library on Cape Cod.
