I'm not in my usual light and humorous mood as I write this week's newsletter and I'm sending it out on Thursday this week since Friday is September 11th. September 11th, to me, should be a day of remembrance and reflection.
I was 19 years old and standing inspection on the flight deck of the USS Boxer (LPH-4) when JFK was assassinated on Nov. 22nd 1963. I was 64 years old and on my way to my office after a financial workshop at White's of Westport on September 11th 2001. Of course there were other days over the course of my 76 years that stand out but these are 2 that will stand alone forever. Never forget.
What's happening at Annie's?
We will be closing at 3PM on Saturday to head for Manchester N.H. for the NEAC trade show on Sunday and Monday where we will be able to check out many vendors for the next "hot fashions and cool accessories" that may find their way to Annie's Unique Boutique. It will be interesting to see how it is presented in this age of social distancing. The show we usually attend in NYC was cancelled earlier this year.
4 of the designer bags that were highlighted in last Friday's newsletter were sold by Saturday. One via phone call was shipped to South Carolina, one was ordered on line and picked up in the store and another customer came in on Saturday and bought 2 more of them before they could be scooped up by someone else. When you see something you like, don't wait too long to try and make it yours.
BREAKING NEWS!!: Want to own a boutique for an hour?
Speaking of social distancing, we have changed our "Girls night out" events to a "Private shopping" opportunity. Due to covid, we can no longer provide refreshments and groups must be limited in size so, in the words of FDR, here's the New Deal (look it up in your Funk & Wagnalls if you don't know who he was). Call us at 774-488-9844 or 508-243-5428 to reserve your hour (or 2) from 11AM to 4PM on any Sunday, invite a few (only a few) of your BFFs and have the place to yourselves. You could actually have the place to yourself if you don't tell your friends about it but we don't want you to lose any BFFs if they find out that you came here without them. There will be a $25 reservation fee (just so we know you're serious) but that will be applied to your purchase so it is really cost-free. If this concept proves to be as much fun as we think it will be, we will continue it right through the holidays. If not, we will continue to be closed on Sundays.
I met with our web chick, Lisa, the other day and went over the re-do of our website https://www.anniesuniqueboutique.com/ and she's on it. The plan is for the changes to publish by the end of this month. Wish her luck.
That's a wrap for this week. In the meantime, stay safe, think big and shop small. Never Forget.
